The list you never knew you needed… the most popular TDs names

Earlier I was told that according to Twitter there are apparently more MPs in Westminster named John than women. The discussion then moved on to whether there was more of similar named TDs in Dáil Éireann than female deputies which stands at 25 deputies in the 31st Dáil.

Courtesy of Kildarestreet.com and their exportable CSV file of deputies names; I put the names through the magic machine and while I treated Johns & Sean’s as one group and Michaels and Micks also together, no one name outnumbered the pitiful number of female TDs in Dáil Éireann.

Below is a graph and a table of the top 25 TDs names, It is worth noting that the top 25 names equates to 86 deputies out of 166 or 51%. Only two women’s names make the list.

Fun and informative for a Saturday night!
